DULUTH, Minn. -

World AIDS Day has been recognized since 1988, this year Duluth/Superior Pride decided to get involved and host a community event.

"Of course with being an LGBTQI group AIDS and HIV (are) very important to us and so we decided we were going to do a community event," said Joe Morales, Co-Chair of Duluth/Superior Pride.

The event welcomed all different community organizations including AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin and Rural AIDS Action Network to share the different resources out there for community members.

Also in attendance, Duluth Mayor Emily Larson and Superior Mayer Bruce Hagen as speakers who declared December 1, 2016, World AIDS Day.

The event had a social hour, followed by a keynote presentation by Dr. James Conniff. The evening ended with a candlelight vigil.
