Minnesota hunter faces poaching charges after bagging record buck
RED WING, Minn. - Minnesota conservation officers have seized a deer rack and filed poaching charges against the hunter who bagged an eight-point buck.
The DNR says Troy Alan Reinke, 32, of Cannon Falls was bowhunting without a license or tags when he shot the deer on Halloween evening. The deer's rack has a "green score" of 185 inches in length and may be a world record.
Reinke is also accused of shooting a small buck and a doe in early October and failing to tag or license them. Conservation officers seized a bow, two deer racks, the meat from the three deer, and the hide from the large buck as part of their investigation.
Restitution for the three deer totals $2,000. Reinke could lose his hunting privileges for three years if convicted of poaching.
