Officials identify homicide-suicide victims

Tue, 11/03/2009 - 6:05pm

BIRCHWOOD, Wis. (AP) Authorities in northwestern Wisconsin have revealed more details about an apparent murder-suicide over the weekend.

Investigators in Sawyer and Washburn counties say Arthur Garcia of Stone Lake shot 43-year-old David Palm on Saturday outside Palm's parents' Birchwood home and then set the house on fire.

The 31-year-old Garcia went to an abandoned home in Washburn County, set a pile of tires on fire, shot himself and then fell into the fire.

Police found pipe bombs in a backpack near his body and two handguns. They believe Garcia used one to kill Palm.

They say Garcia and Palm's sister were once involved romantically and had a child together. Garcia apparently had a vendetta against the Palm family after that relationship ended.
