Sat, 10/17/2009 - 9:59pm

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Peace activists in Minnesota spoke out Saturday against the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In Duluth, activists held a midday march that started at the Clayton, Jackson, McGhie Memorial at Second Avenue East and First Street, traveled down Superior Street and ended at the Federal Building.

Protesters also gathered in downtown Minneapolis for a rally. There were more than 40 other peace actions nationwide.

The protests called for an end to the war in Afghanistan, while the Obama administration is considering a plan to send additional U.S. troops there. The protests also called for an end to the U.S. occupation in Iraq.

Other cities hosting anti-war events Saturday included Boston, Cleveland and San Francisco.
