PROCTOR - For $10,099.99–cents, the now–famous DWI motorized recliner now is the proud property of an eBay buyer.

The sale brings to an end a very odd... And strangely entertaining series of events which put proctor on the world map.

A frenzy of calls flooded the small department of less than a dozen officers the past seven days.

"This is the biggest zoo i've ever been in," says Proctor Police Chief, Walter Wobig.

Reporters, not unlike ourselves, wanting to know the latest on the motorized chair, seized after a drunk driving accident last year, being sold on eBay.

"Minnesota News Network, wishes an interview," says records manager, Lynea Wiita.

"Every media agency that there is," says Wobig.

"London would be the farthest one i answered, the London Times," says Witta.

In addition to the literally hundreds of media request the chair has generated, there are also people just randomly coming into the station to have a look at the chair.  But, no one has come from further away than Stu from Winnipeg.

"Specifically came here with his camera in hand hoping to he could have a picture of the chair," says Wiita.  "Stu was delighted that I let him in, go back, take all the pictures we wanted of the chair... And he's going to be blogging it out all over Canada tonight."

Despite the chair's star status, the city is happy to be rid of it.  And to have the money.  Even though it's not the $43,00 that was being bid before getting pulled because of trademark dispute.  Originally listed as a 'motorized 'La–Z–Boy,' that company complained.  The city's administrator says it's unlikely they'd try to recoup the rest of money.

"We've gotten a lot of good publicity for Proctor," says James Rohweder.  "I don't know if we'd want to turn around and make a negative out of that."
