CABLE, Wis. - The sale of a well–known Northland resort is very close to becoming a reality.  The new owners have big plans to revitalize the Telemark Lodge.

A northwood’s landmark is on track for a facelift.  "There is a lot of potential in the hotel and also the property for future development," said Gary Crandall, president of the Telemark Interval Owners Association (TIOA) Board of Directors.  Crandall says members will vote on the sale of the resort at a special membership meeting Saturday.  "We are totally confident that the membership will approve, it's been a long search for a compatible buyer for the Telemark Resort, someone who will carry on the history and heritage that we all hold so dearly at Telemark."

The association is selling the bulk of their assets which includes the lodge and nearly 1,000 acres of property to Telemark Partners, LLC.  "It's a win, win, win, win all the way around, there is no one who won't be positively impacted by this in our small community," said Crandall.

The new owners plan to renovate the lodge, re–open the alpine ski area, add a snowboard park and develop a recreational residential area.  "With these additions they are projecting adding 50–100 new jobs on top of what are currently here; economically in this area, that's huge," said Darrell Buchmann, Telemark General Manager & Controller.  "To have this opportunity to have a huge private development take place is spectacular; it's good for all of us," said Crandall.

Developers also have plans to create a training center sanctioned by the Olympic committee.  "CXC cross country skiing will be brining their training program here to Telemark and it won't be just for ski events, it could be for running or cycling or all kind of Olympic type events; that will be pretty exciting," said Crandall.

Revitalization is near for Telemark Resort; a place that holds many memories for those who have worked and played here.  "This certainly is a northwood’s landmark," said Buchmann.  "It’s been a big part of everybody's life here in this part of the country."

There are no plans to change the name of Telemark Resort.
