ST. PAUL – One of the best ways to keep cool on a hot August day — all while helping local kids — is to enjoy a Dairy Queen Blizzard® Treat! The opportunity takes place Thursday, August 14 during the Ninth Annual Miracle Treat Day at participating Dairy Queen locations throughout Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
Participating locations can be found at www.miracletreatday.com.
On Miracle Treat Day, $1 or more from every Blizzard Treat sold by participating Dairy Queen stores will be donated to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, a national organization committed to raising awareness and funds for children’s hospitals. In Minnesota and western Wisconsin, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals fundraising benefits Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare.
In 2013, participating Dairy Queen stores throughout Minnesota and western Wisconsin raised more than $200,000 on Miracle Treat Day for Gillette, the nation’s first hospital for children who have disabilities.
Last year, Gillette provided care to more than 25,700 children at its St. Paul hospital, six Twin Cities outpatient locations and statewide outreach clinics, which serve 15 additional communities throughout greater Minnesota.
“We hope to see flurries of activity on August 14 as Dairy Queen locations throughout the region raise money for children with some of the most complex conditions in pediatric medicine,” says Darlis Clausen, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals manager at Gillette. “We encourage everyone to visit their local Dairy Queen store, cool off with a tasty Blizzard Treat, and support children in their communities.”
