DULUTH - Just a couple of weeks ago, we were seeing temperatures in the high 30s and mid 40s.Just when you thought spring was going to actually start acting like spring, we get hit with a whopper.
The calendar says its spring but Mother Nature seems to have a different agenda.
"We have a couple more inches coming tonight, couple more inches tomorrow,” National Weather Service Meteorologist Carol Christenson said. “By the time it's all said and done 6–8 inches probably."
You heard right, a snowstorm in mid-April.
"It's miserable," said Boyer Alseth of Duluth.
"Oh I hate it, it's crazy, its cold, its freezing," said Bobbi Hampton of Superior.
"Well I think it's awful I think it's crazy,” said Lee Bonsteel of Duluth. “But you know its Minnesota and April why not have a snow storm what else is there to do?"
Last winter’s freezing temps and snowfall had many hoping for an early spring warm up.
"I'm ready for Spring, I don't want snow anymore," said Ann Ek of Hermantown.
"I was ready for it to be over a month ago," said Bonsteel.
But so far spring is looking more like a winter wonderland.
"I wish it was spring, I don't think we're going to have one this year," said Hampton.
"I was hoping it could start breaking out the shorts pretty soon," said Alseth.
“I'm ready for summer to come yup," said Deandre Hampton of Duluth.
While some may be sick of the winter like weather others are using it to have a little fun.
Surfers were out on Lake Superior riding the waves on the fresh chilly water.
"I actually drove up from Minneapolis last night and stayed at a little cottage along the norshore because I say the forecast," said Mike Young of Minnespolis.
Some even whipped out their cameras to see the strong winds in action on the lake.
"It's really cold and it's icy but it’s fun," Ek.
Whether you like the storm or not this spring continues to be a real adventure to say the least.
