DULUTH - There was a big birthday celebration Friday for one snazzy, quick-witted lady who turned 97 years old.
"Today's my birthday – Friday the 13th," Alyce Horwitz laughed.
The hysterical, no nonsense Horwitz was at her favorite Duluth salon – A Touch of Plasch – to get her hair done at 11 a.m. with owner Harvey Plasch.
She's been getting primped up every single week since Touch of Plasch opened in 1972. And at 97 years old, Alyce knows a thing or two about life -- and has a little advice.
"I was at a big party in my honor and they asked me what I attributed my longevity to, and I said, one is I have good genes from my parents, and the other is I have a drink every night. So, booze it up," Horwitz joked as she lifted her glass of Champaign while getting her haircut."
Horwitz is the oldest customer of a Touch of Plasch.
She calls owner Harvey and the rest of the gang at the salon – family.
