SUPERIOR - $48 million in federal stimulus money is being used to weatherize Wisconsin homes.
In Douglas County Monday, U.S. Rep. Dave Obey (D-Wausau) got to see first–hand how the money is being used. He toured one of the 500 local homes being improved by 20 local service agencies.
"It helps the country save a lot of money in terms of money we're shoveling abroad to oil–producing countries. And, it also helps to improve living conditions for an awful lot of people in this area," Obey said.
The money is targeted at homes owned by the elderly, handicapped and families with children under the age of six.
