DULUTH-  He’s making a list and checking it twice.

Santa Claus is getting ready to deliver toys to good little girls and boys around the world - but before his big night, he made a stop in Duluth.

Because Duluth, Minnesota is so much like the North Pole," Santa said.

There, Santa said. his elves are busy doing last-minute preparations.

"The elves are busy loading the sleigh and, of course this year, in the summer we brought out a new model of sleigh, it's the Sleighmaster 2000!" Santa said.

He’ll use that to travel from rooftop to rooftop with help from his nine reindeer.

"My reindeer are up on the roof, really, right up there," said Santa.

He has visited with thousands of boys and girls this holiday season.

"So you've been good this year, right?" he asked one youngster.

“I want a digger! ," another child requested.

"I want a stuffed tiger," another said. "Oh, that's a pretty good choice, too," Santa replied.

But not all his visitors came with a smile; a few tears and screams are guaranteed.

"Santa is going to have to go to the psychiatrist after Christmas to figure out what about him scares people because they just scream," he said.

With a winter storm predicted to head our way this Christmas, Santa says kids shouldn't worry - his reindeer will pull through.

"We've always got through all the blizzards, and especially in this area where the wind comes off the lake and we are trying to go sideways down Park Point and the sled is going like so and it's pretty harrowing, but we always make it through," Santa said.

"[We're] super-excited for the snow; just being with family and friends and getting everyone together," said Lindsay Godmare of Duluth.

With hugs all around and a twinkle in his eye, Santa brings a little holiday cheer to all who believe in the magic of Christmas: "Merry Christmas everyone, and to all a good night."
