SUPERIOR - Neighbors in Duluth's Fond Du Lac neighborhood expected highway 23 to re-open Sunday. But many other road closures have also become obstacles for people travelling.
One bridge demolished by last month's floods blocked the way to Barker's Island.
But another entrance welcomes people back to the island farmer's market this weekend with folks selling cucumbers peas, string beans, onions and other locally grown items.
"I know there has been a lot of concern with roads being out, entrances being out but we are going strong. We got an entrance that is working for us," said David Dumke, a coordinator.
The market is open every Saturday and at the public library on Wednesdays.
