Man Pleads Guilty to Little League Theft

HIBBING - A Hibbing man has pleaded guilty to a pair of allegations that he stole more than $50,000 from a local Little League over a 10-year span.The St. Louis County Attorney's Office says Jacob F. Smokrovich pleaded guilty Wednesday to theft and financial fraud.Police say Smokrovich stole almost $55,000 from the Hibbing Little League between 2001 and 2011.Smokrovich has already paid $20,000 of restitution. A Hibbing Daily Tribune report says he has agreed to pay back the next $20,000 within a year and the remainder of about $14,700 within two years.If he pays back all the money on schedule the charges will be dismissed. If he doesn't, the case will proceed to sentencing.A working phone number for Smokrovich could not immediately be found Thursday.
