Duluth, MN, USA -
LOS ANGELES-The man whose beating inspired the Los Angeles riots has died. Rodney King, 47, was found Sunday morning by his fiancée at the bottom of a pool at his California home. He became famous in 1991 when amateur video recorded LAPD officers beating him for more than seven minutes after a traffic stop. The officers were later acquitted of any wrong doing leading to nearly a week of deadly riots in south central Los Angeles. On Sunday police said there were no signs of foul play or alcoholic beverages. In Duluth, custodians of the Clayton, Jackson, Mcghie Memorial, the site of the city’s famous lynching of three black men said:"Clayton, Jackson, Mcghie remembers Rodney King as reflecting the spirit of reconciliation and forgiveness that we continue promoting in our city"
