Police: Fugitive Physically Attacked Two Officers

SUPERIOR - Charges are expected after police said someone physically attacked two investigators.Todd Carter, 39, was wanted for not showing up to court on a drug charge in Carlton County.Investigators followed Carter to the Metro Credit Union parking lot Wednesday and walked up to his car as he was getting out. Carter attempted to place the keys back in the ignition of his vehicle leading police to believe he would flee. A struggle ensued and Carter fled on foot. After a brief chase, officers were able to tackle Carter near the intersection of north 14th St. and Cedar Ave. Carter resisted the officer's efforts to control him and gained control of one of the officer's firearms. The officer was able to regain control of his firearm after three minutes of continuous struggle. Additional officers arrived and took Carter into custody where he was lodged in the Douglas County Jail. One of the arresting officers was treated and released for injuries sustained in the struggle to control Carter.Charges are expected to be filed Friday.
