ASHLAND - Ashland hosted their 16th Annual WhistleStop Marathon Saturday.
The starting line began in Iron River, and for the thousands of runners, 26.2 miles later, they finished in Downtown Ashland.
Runners told FOX 21 they were pleased with the perfect Fall race day weather.
“This is my 32nd ½ marathon. I just love to run. I love to run with my friends. We travel all over the United States doing different races and it's just something we can do that's healthy and it's great to be able to support and motivate each other,” Mari Kay-Nabozny, a runner, said.
“If you see their face, what they've accomplished. Just had a girl that ran in memory of her dad. I’ve seen women coming in that have scarves over no hair,” Joyce Kabasa, a WhistleStop volunteer, said.
The festivities continued well after the race was over, with the WhistleStop Blues and Brews Fest.
