ODANAH - The Bad River Lodge and Casino hosted the first annual Music Fest on Saturday, bringing people from across Wisconsin outside for a good time.
For some it was about the grilling competition.
"You're out there, wood, smoke, you know, it's a good time," said Dan Kulbacki from Ashland, Wisc.
For others it was about the bands and free music.
"We came to see 'Da Yoopers,'" said Gary Perkins.
And there were those who just wanted to spend the day outside.
"When you get together with people, everything's calm, everything's nice, and you know, it's just a good atmosphere," said grilling contestent Jermaine Smith.
Whatever the reason for coming, the music fest was the perfect weekend getaway, that also offered some friendly competition.
"I just like seeing the different ways people are doing things," said Kulbacki, who had also entered his BBQ ribs into the grilling competition. "You know, different ways of doing things, cooking things. I'm pretty excited after judging to try people's stuff out."
Kulbacki also mentioned that it was more about getting people together for an afternoon outside, than winning best BBQ.
"I thought it was a good opportunity to come out, have some good food, meet some good people, Kulbacki said. "I hope it continues, I hope this becomes a yearly traditions and we get more and more people. It's a good time."
"And the food's good too," added Ginny Dewar, who said she also came to see "Da Yoopers."
