ST. PAUL, Minn. -

A total of six St. Scholastica athletes were recognized by the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) on Monday as being players of the week in their respective sports.

Jacob Gallagher was named the UMAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week. At Saturday's St. Olaf College Invitational, Gallagher was the top UMAC finisher of the eight conference schools in attendance with a 15th place finish. His time of 26:16 was a personal-best.

Casey Hovland was named the UMAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the second time this season. Hovland placed third overall at Saturday St. Olaf Invitational, but was the fastest NCAA Division III runner with a time of 22:06, 30 seconds behind the race winner and just six seconds off her personal-best time.

Arica Sheff earned UMAC Women's Golf Player of the Week laurels for the third time this year. Last week, Sheff recorded a top 20 finish, tying for 16th, in a strong Georgianni Blugold Invitational field in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Two days later, she earned medalist honors for the fourth time on the year, winning the University of Northwestern Invite by seven strokes with her second-lowest round of the season.

Luke Buckton was named the UMAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. Buckton recorded two goals and two assists in the team's victory over Northland College last Tuesday. In Saturday's 3-0 victory over the University of Northwestern, Buckton assisted two of CSS' three goals, including the game-winner in the second half of a scoreless contest.

Corrado Rosato was named the UMAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Rosato recorded his first two collegiate shutouts last week in victories over Northland College and the University of Northwestern. Rosato just needed to make one save in Tuesday's win over Northland, but had to make four saves against Northwestern on Saturday, including one on a penalty kick with the game still scoreless.

Finally, Christaia Houser was named the UMAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week. At the UMAC Preview Tournament over the weekend in Morris, Minnesota, Houser averaged 1.08 blocks per set in four matches. In Saturday's match against the University of Minnesota Morris, Houser matched a season-high with six blocks.
