MILWAUKEE (AP) Stephen Drew hit a two-run single and Ryan Church added a pinch-hit RBI in the 10th inning as the Arizona Diamondbacks rallied off Trevor Hoffman for a 7-4 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday night.

Hoffman (2-5), who earned his first save in three months on Saturday, came on to pitch the 10th after the Diamondbacks tied it at 4 in ninth. » read more

MILWAUKEE (AP) Casey McGehee hit a three-run homer and Lorenzo Cain drove in the first three runs of his career, helping the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Houston Astros 11-6 on Sunday to complete a three-game sweep.

McGehee drove a ball into the Brewers' bullpen in left-center field in the fourth to make it 11-4, after just missing a three-run homer in the first with an RBI double off the wall.

MANKATO, Minn. (AP) Husain Abdullah is approaching his most challenging month of the football season. That's when the Vikings' backup safety observes Ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting and prayer.

Abdullah will not eat or drink during daylight hours for the 30-day period beginning Wednesday. He will need to maintain his energy, stamina and health in the coming weeks. The Vikings have a plan for him to get the nutrients he needs at night.

CLEVELAND (AP) Orlando Hudson was activated from the disabled list and back in the Minnesota Twins lineup.

The second baseman, sidelined since July 24 by a strained right oblique muscle, batted second Sunday against the Cleveland Indians.

Right-hander Anthony Slama was optioned to Triple-A Rochester to create roster room for Hudson, who has hit .285 with four homers, 27 RBI and 53 runs in 80 games.

Alexi Casilla, the Twins' starter at second base in Hudson's absence, was limping in the clubhouse before the game with a sprained left ankle. » read more

MILWAUKEE (AP) Rickie Weeks hit an inside-the-park home run and George Kottaras added a solo shot to lead the Milwaukee Brewers to a 5-2 win over the Houston Astros on Saturday night.

Randy Wolf (8-9), who was forced to leave his last start on Sunday against the Astros in the seventh inning when he was hit on the wrist by a ball hit by Hunter Pence, got the victory. He gave up two runs on nine hits in 6 2-3 innings.

The former Minnesota Viking and Seattle Seahawk had 137 1/2 sacks in his 14 pro seasons, including a league-high 15 1/2 in 1997. He made six straight All-Pro teams (1993-98) and was chosen for seven Pro Bowls.

MANKATO, Minn. (AP) Bernard Berrian is trying to become more of an integral part of Minnesota's offense this season.

After leading the Vikings in yards receiving and averaging more than 20 yards per catch in 2008, Berrian had trouble keeping his left hamstring muscle healthy last season and wasn't his usual self. He couldn't run deep patterns like he was used to and wound up being more of a short-yardage receiver.

With Sidney Rice and Percy Harvin missing in training camp this week, Berrian has been getting work at all three wide receiver positions. » read more
