Two Tigers Sign With Division 1 Schools

Thu, 11/12/2009 - 10:47pm

Northwestern fans have to wait until Saturday to watch their favorite football team in the state semifinals, but Thursday night a pair of Tigers signed on the dotted line making their college choices official.

Donnie Hissa will play baseball for Notre Dame, while one of his teammates on the Tiger basketball team, Steve Tecker, heads in the opposite direction and will play college hoops for South Dakota.

"Steve's a very shy kid, so he's not real excited about getting in front of everybody. He said he'd just like to sign the, he wants to just sign the contract and he wants to go down in the gym right now and work out," said Tigers head basketball coach Dan Cowley.

Hissa was just about as interested in the signing, "I thought when I got the paper, alright cool, I'll just sign here on Wednesday night at home, and send it in and stuff. And my parents are all like, 'No we gotta, gotta announce it, and people want to be there and stuff.' I'm like, alright, that's fine."
