Big Ten Creates 2 Divisions

PARK RIDGE, Ill. (AP) - The expanded Big Ten will place Ohio State and Michigan into different divisions. The conference announced its divisional breakdown Wednesday night, though neither division has been named. Michigan, Nebraska, Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota and Northwestern will make up one division when the league grows to 12 teams in 2012. Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin, Illinois, Purdue and Indiana are in the other. » read more

MILWAUKEE (AP) _Baseball commissioner Bud Selig, along with owners of the Milwaukee Brewers, Oakland A's and Boston Red Sox, are donating an undisclosed amount of money to the University of Wisconsin.

The donations were announced on Friday at a news conference at Miller Park.

Donations from Brewers owner Mark Attanasio, A's owner Lew Wolff and Red Sox co-owner Tom Werner will go toward a scholarship in Selig's name. » read more

LAS VEGAS (AP) Brock Lesnar rallied from a horrific first-round beating to stop Shane Carwin with a choke in the second round, defending his heavyweight title at UFC 116 on Saturday night.

Lesnar won his first fight in nearly a year despite taking a pounding in the opening minutes from Carwin, the previously undefeated interim champion.

Lesnar, the intimidating former professional wrestler and the UFC's biggest pay-per-view star, took down Carwin in the second round. » read more

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Minnesotan Brock Lesnar is returning to the Octagon after a bout of intestinal illness nearly killed him last year.

The UFC heavyweight champion meets Shane Carwin at UFC 116 in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

Lesnar says that in the year he's been away, he's improved his boxing and kickboxing skills and his diet, but his conditioning going into the fight is still a question.
