DULUTH- High school students got their chance to show off their engineering skills Wednesday at UMD.
It was the 21st Annual Tooth Pick Bridge contest.
The goal was to build the sturdiest structure or the most aesthetically pleasing bridge.
Each bridge can only weigh half a pound and making the structure of each bridge is very important.
"Some years we have bridges that hold a load of 140 pounds. It’s amazing to watch, it's always fun to watch the students break the bridges because when the bridge breaks they all jump," said John Hinzmann of American Society of Engineers.
Hinzmann says the main reason for the event is to get young kids excited about engineering.
