DULUTH - The Boys and Girls Club of the Northland celebrated its 42nd Annual 'Youth of the Year' event Tuesday night.
Four team members competed to win the title and were interviewed by a panel of local judges.
They each gave a three minute speech on what the club means to them.
The contestants are between 14 and 18 years old and have been club members for at least two years.
Director of Team Services, Alec Staffon said, "The focus of the program is to get them in service to their club, community, and their families. The speaking part of that is a good experience for them. I think it just helps develop character and leadership."
The winner will go on to compete at state for a chance at a $10,000 scholarship.
That will be held in the Twin Cities in April.
