WRENSHALL - The lack of rain we’ve
had this season is still creating a struggle for some Northland farmers.
We talked to
farmer Rick Dalen about the effects the drought is having on his farm, Northern
Dalen said it has created long, excess hours for him, as
irrigation processes have been consuming his days and nights.
Dalen has been running the company's irrigation system since the beginning of July, when drought tendencies
began. Although the irrigation process has added an extra workload, he is very
thankful to have it.
However, some Northland farmers aren’t as fortunate.
Dalen says hay farmers are probably suffering the most from the drought, as
they don’t have access to an irrigation system.
Since the lack of rain, the
pricing in hay has increased, leading to higher costs for grocery items.
