Superior Teacher Pleads Guilty to DWI

A Superior elementary school teacher who almost froze to death in the Duluth harbor has pleaded guilty to DWI.

Matt Amerson, 25, was found unconscious Nov. 29, 2014 in his mostly submerged vehicle off Garfield Avenue.

Police say he had a blood alcohol level nearly twice the legal limit.

Amerson was hospitalized with a medically induced coma, but has since made a full recovery.
