Duluth Greater Downtown Council Celebrates 30 Years

Nearly 600 Attend Annual Dinner

Wednesday evening, nearly 600 Duluthians came out to celebrate Duluth’s successful downtown and look ahead to the future.

It’s the 30th anniversary of the Greater Downtown Council Dinner.

Organizers say the event grows every year, and 2015 attracted a record crowd.

The goal is to celebrate how the downtown has moved forward over the past year, and sets goals for years to come.

“When you look at our skyline and you can see two cranes on our skyline showcasing the maurices construction in the maurices headquarters as well as the DTA multimodal center; That’s exciting stuff,” smiled Greater Downtown Council President Kristi Stokes.

More than 300 businesses are members of Duluth’s Greater Downtown Council.

Duluth Mayor Don Ness served at the keynote speaker for the event.
