Rock On Climbing Competition Kicks Off

Climbers from all over Wisconsin and Minnesota gathered at UWS to put their skills to the test.

Beginners and advanced competitors took part in the 11th annual Rock On.

Hiking up the universities state of the art climbing wall for high level fun, rivalry and camaraderie.

“We have a lot of college students that enjoy climbing but they never really get to try it in a competitive setting,” said Nathan Field with UWS. This is a fun easy going competitive setting. Great way for them to get more familiar with climbing in a more competitive setting and it’s a great way to bring the schools together.”

A free competition for youth ages 6-13 also took place.

Young climbers FOX 21 they enjoyed getting a good workout.

“There’s easier routes and harder routes,” said Emma Vanneste. “It’s good just to start and you’ll get better while you go.”

The indoor climbing series is composed of six UW schools.
