Every year on Super Bowl Sunday a local church kicks off a festival to embrace the cold temps and have some fun in the snow.

Eastridge Community Church hosted its 5th Fire and Ice Bowl Winter Event.

Festivities on the churches 30 acre property included sledding, ice skating and even snowshoeing on their trail system.

“We noticed that in between Christmas and Easter there were sort of times where we didn’t get to have fun and get together,” Eastridge Community Church Pastor Tom Asbury said. “So basically we said well we have the hill, we have the pond lets have fun.”

The church also held a chili cook off with more than 20 different recipes from the congregation.

This year the venison chili won the competition.
