St. Louis Co. Hosts Invasive Species Information Session

Invasive Species Causing Havoc in the Northland

Invasive species have been causing havoc in our local ecosystem and Tuesday was a time to address the issue.

An information session was taking place earlier today at the public safety building here in Duluth.

The session focused on invasive aquatic plants and animals that are threatening other native species here in the Northland.

While some species are at this time nearly impossible to control, providing awareness to this issue is the greatest way to combat this problem.

“People are very concerned about invasive species because they recognize the devastating impact of once these things become invested in the lakes and rivers.”

An additional information session will take place Wednesday from 12:30–4:30 p.m. at the Mountain Iron Community Center on 8586 Enterprise Drive South, Mountain Iron.
