Five Arrested In Duluth Drug Bust

The Duluth Police Department says they have taken five violent criminals off the streets and put them behind bars.

The suspects are facing serious drug and weapon charges.

The bust happened around 4 a.m. Jan. 30 at a home near 1st Avenue East and 3rd Street, and two other homes on the 700 and 800 blocks of Upham Road.

In all, investigators seized sawed-off shotguns, handguns, meth and more than 40 grams of heroin.

Here are the names and charges for the suspects:

Derek John Salvhus, 26, possession of a sawed off shotgun, aid and abetting controlled substance sales.

Daniel Miguel Rush, 40, felon in possession of firearm and possession of a sawed off shotgun.

Brian Keith Garnes, 42, for aiding and abetting controlled substance sale.

Nathan Labronze James, 26, 1st degree possession of a controlled substance.

Anthony Newell Blunt, 32, possession of a sawed of shotgun.
