Snow Plow Bristles Damage 148th’s Jets

The 148th Fighter Wing is working overtime to fix a problem with its jets.

Airbase officials said Thursday that bristles from snow plow brooms on the airport runway got sucked up and created significant damage on the engines.

“We’re going through it all with a small camera looking for any damage, any nicks — any scratches that we need to either blend or replace,” said Staff Sgt. Matthew Mcewey.

The Duluth Airport has removed the brooms.

The 148th is looking over all 22 jets with the hope of being back in full service by the weekend.
