MN February Crash Numbers Exceed Last Month’s

A Slippery Start to the Month on Minnesota Roads

According to statistics from the Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety, 13 people have died since February 1st.

Seven of those deaths took place from Feb. 5-8.

Four of the 6 motorists who died were not wearing their seat belts.

In January, 9 people lost their lives.

But, in just 10 days, February crashes have exceeded the number of January fatalities.

Some contributing factors include speed, drunk driving, distracted driving and the lack of seat belt use.

The Duluth District has reported to 46 incidents from Monday, February 9th at noon to February 11th at noon.
