A local food shelf received more than 6,000 pounds of food donations this weekend.

Members of Lakeview Covenant Church in Duluth loaded a U–Haul and a pick–up truck full of food that will fill the shelves of Union Gospel Mission.

The hefty donation comes after the entire congregation went to Super One grocery stores and bought non-perishable items for the non-profit.

“Our food shelf was in danger of closing and Lakeview Covenant has created a miracle for us by bringing us this bounty of food,” Union Gospel Mission Executive Director Paul Hannu said. “The ability to keep our food shelf open and keep our programs running.”

Donations equal more than 10,000 pounds.

Union Gospel Mission tells FOX 21 it’s about 3 month’s worth of food.
