A vision of 16 years is now realized as Gun Flint Tavern serves up Cook Counties first handcrafted beer to the public.

To go along with their creative menu, head brewer, Paul Gecas says this add to the philosophy and artistic expression the restaurant already has.

“I think having a craft brewery really pairs well with that.  In the future, we can work with doing specific beer recipes to pair with specific menu items,” Gecas added.

With plenty of porters and pale ales to drink, Gecas says this is more than a great addition to the North Shore.

“It’s really nice to be a part of that but also in a more rural area like Grand Marais.  I think that kind of brings it back to the heart of craft brewing and trying to make a really good product and serve it fresh,” Gecas said.

The pub opened last November.
