Hibbing Community College is expanding its hands-on program for nursing students.
Over the next three years the school will be creating new simulation centers.
The centers will use life-like mannequins and give students a feel for what it is like to work in the ICU, a birthing suite, nursing home, and at-home care.
“Students will be able to get those experiences. Even if they’re not with real people they’ll get the same experiences so they’ll come out feeling very confident to practice,” said Sandy Gustafson, with Hibbing Community College’s nursing program.
The updates at the college, including remodeling some classrooms, will be funded by a grant from IRRRB, Central Mesabi Medical Foundation and the Hibbing Community College
