Music, food and fun brought people together on the UWS campus Saturday evening.

In honor of Black History Month, the Black Student Union Organizations hosted ‘Soul Food’.

The UWS tradition allowed students to learn more about the African and African –American culture through dance, song and poetry.

“Being in a predominately white community who doesn’t want to learn about new culture, who doesn’t want to experience new things? So, I think by having this event it allows us to mingle with the community and campus. (They) learn a little bit about us and our heritage, not only African but African American, Caribbean, it covers it all,” said Terra Brister, with UWS’s Black Student Union.

The event is one of the more popular on the UWS campus, bringing in more than 200-some people.
