Wednesday was a day to go red for women.

The American Heart Association promoted women’s health with a luncheon at the DECC.

They sponsored presentations before the luncheon, including a cooking demonstration by Chef Rory Schepisi, featured as a finalist on the Food Network program “The Next Food Network Star.”

The Go Red for Women movement promotes awareness that heart disease is the number one killer of women in America.

“It’s really all-around community-based and [about] how we can help each other be more healthy,” said Corporate Events Director, Heather Hugley.

Go Red for Women as an awareness movement started in 2004.
