There are 1,200 structurally deficient bridges and several of them in our region are being called obsolete.

Congressman Rick Nolan held a transportation forum in Duluth Monday to hear the best ideas from people to improve and fund Minnesota’s transportation system.

Nolan says there’s one thing everyone agrees upon.

“Transportation infrastructures is deteriorating rapidly.  A good transportation system is essential for jobs, businesses and economic growth.  We need to find some new revenue to build this system,” Nolan said.

Between work in Congress and the state legislature, there is a significant opportunity to make progress, according to Nolan.

Hearings will start in Washington next month to get Minnesota’s transportation system back on track.
