Duluth City Officials are in St. Paul for the 18th annual Duluth and St. Louis County Days.

Since this year is not a bonding year, the cities plan is to set budgets for their next big project.

This year’s main focus is the reconstruction of Superior Street.

But, the development will go far beyond road work.

“A major energy project with the steam plant conversion and going from steam to hot water which would be energy efficient and economically efficient for the downtown area in particular,” said Duluth’s Communication and Policy Director, Daniel Fanning.

Community members met with legislators about our regions initiatives.

Officials say this day is about conveying appreciation to the legislature.

“We got support for Wade Stadium, for North Shore Theater and for Spirit Mountain.  So, we want to go down and say thank you.  These are the things we were advocating for last year and we are putting the money to good use.  It was a good investment not only in Duluth in the regional economy,” said Fanning.

City officials expected more than 500 community members to lobby at the State Capitol Wednesday afternoon.

There is still three weeks left to get more ideas to the legislature.
