On Feb. 21, over 1,000 people will be taking a plunge into what will be a freezing cold Lake Superior, and its all in support of Special Olympics Minnesota.
Participants are invited to Grandma’s Sports Garden prior to, and after, the plunge.
“In February in Duluth there’s not a lot of outdoor activities that the community can be involved in,” said Duluth Police Officer Mike Thamm. “I like the Polar Bear Plunge because it’s not like a marathon where you have to train. You just come down, you jump in, in 20 seconds you’re out, and you still get a t–shirt.”
Ten reporters from FOX 21 will be taking the plunge, including anchors Dan Hanger and Diane Alexander.
