They’re buttery, flaky and go best with coffee. So why not celebrate the delicious croissant?

Northlanders celebrated National Croissant Day Friday.

Starbucks in Duluth took part in the day by serving up their butter, chocolate and almond flavored croissants.

The downtown store on Superior St. sold 48 croissants in a half hour, according to store manager, David Carlson.

“For us, it’s that we have traditional croissants. This is something you’re going to find in all of our stores. Our food shares the same kind of passion we have for our coffee,” said Carlson.

The croissant was born in Paris in the mid-1800s.
