Republican leaders made a stop in Duluth Friday to help grow better-paying jobs.

Representative Kurt Daudt made the trip from St. Paul to ME/Elecmetal, which is a west Duluth foundry that makes steel and iron castings for the mining industry.

The Speaker of the House talked to staff about matching up the workforce with jobs and creating a competitive business climate.

“We think that since the recession the jobs have come back a little better in the metro area than they have in greater Minnesota,” said Daudt. “That’s obviously why we’re out in greater Minnesota talking to folks and talking to job creators about what they’re challenges are.”

Daudt also toured other companies throughout Minnesota Friday.

Legislation to grow better-paying jobs will be heard in committee next week.
