Nearly 1,000 people are getting to jump into Lake Superior Saturday for the 15th Annual Duluth Polar Bear Plunge.

As of Thursday night, 921 plungers had raised $101,972 for Special Olympics Minnesota.

“We’re not out trying to cure any diseases or anything like that; it’s just out to give people an opportunity they otherwise wouldn’t be able to do,” said Mike Thamm, a Plunge organizer and Duluth police officer.

FOX 21’s Dan Hanger, Diane Alexander and a bunch of the station’s reporters will be jumping once again this year.

As of Thursday night, the FOX 21 News Team raised $3,790.
