Body Found in Debris of Finlayson Township Fire

Body Found After Fire Extinguished at Pine County Home

On March 7, 2015 at approximately midnight, the Pine County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a structure fire on Hammond Rd in Finlayson Township.

Pine County deputies as well as the Sandstone and Finlayson Fire Departments responded to the scene.

The structure was found to be engulfed on arrival of the responding units.

Once the fire was extinguished human remains were found amongst the
burned debris of the trailer home.

The State Fire Marshal was called in to assist in the investigation.

The body was transported to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office in Ramsey Minnesota for an autopsy.

Identification of the deceased will be made by the medical examiner after an autopsy and notification of next of kin is completed.
