Superior Police Investigate Armed Robbery at Super 8

Superior Police Search for Armed Robber

Superior Police investigating early Wednesday morning armed robbery at the Super 8 Motel located at 4901 East 2nd St.

On Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at approx. 3:08 a.m., Officers from the Superior Police Department responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Super 8 Motel located at 4901 East 2nd St in Superior.

Upon officers arrival in the area a perimeter was set up and the clerk was briefly interviewed for some initial information.

A Duluth P.D. K-9 Unit also responded to assist in any tracking possibilities.

The lone female clerk was working the front desk when the suspect entered through the main lobby doors.

She described the suspect as a male wearing dark clothing with his face covered.

He was also brandishing a dark colored hand gun.

The clerk cooperated and gave the suspect the money and he fled on foot out of the building.

The clerk immediately locked the doors and called 911.

A K-9 track was unsuccessful as it was believed the suspect had a car possibly waiting/parked in the immediate area.

It should be noted that Ashland County had reported a very similar robbery approx.. two hours earlier in their City.

It too was at a Super 8 Motel. It is possible that the two are related but it is too early in the investigation to confirm that.

The police department is asking for any assistance that citizens may have in reference to this incident.

They can remain anonymous if they so desire.

They are asked to contact the Superior Police Department.

This is an ongoing investigation in the extremely early stages so there is nothing more to release at this point.

Future information will be released as it becomes available and verified.
