The Superior Police Department celebrated the accomplishments of its officers at this year’s annual awards ceremony.

Many of the awards were linked to difficult cases.

Police Chief Nick Alexander says with that comes hardship for the officers and their families.

“I think that’s why it’s difficult for some of our officers to accept praise and award for the work they’ve done.  They know that often time their hard efforts are the result of tragedy for others,” Alexander expressed.

Multiple officers were specifically recognized for their performance during “Operation Ice break.”

It was a five month methamphetamine investigation that stopped trafficking from Arizona to Wisconsin.

Although it’s their job, the officers say they are thankful to be recognized for their dedication.

“It feels good. Our department takes care of us and we know that.  It’s nice they recognize us when we do good work,” said Sgt. Paul Winterscheidt.

Thirty-four officers were at Thursday’s ceremony.
