City Installs New Crossing Signs at Lift Bridge

The next time you walk across the Aerial Lift Bridge you will see new crossing signs.

The city recently removed the old red and white signs and installed new ones to make it clearer about when you can cross.

The goal is to give people better direction about what to do when they approach the bridge, especially people who may have hearing impairments.

“We’ve been trying to bring up our safety consciousness, trying to make it as safe as we possibly can for everyone around, and let them still be able to enjoy the bridge,” said Dave Campbell, Aerial Lift Bridge supervisor.

The city also plans to put up new signs with information about why the bridge operates the way it does for tourists.
