Area school children are teaming up with CHUM, a local food shelf, to end hunger in The Northland.

Monday afternoon, Duluth students gathered at Holy Rosary School to learn about the importance of helping our hungry neighbors.

Students from Ordean East Middle School are dressing as superheroes in the spirit of fighting hunger.

“Working together with our students and families in the community, it’s important that we take care of one another, help one another, and feed one another. It’s just a really important thing to do in our community,” said Stephanie Aagenes, a special education teacher at Ordean East Middle School.

Each pound of food raised will be matched by the Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign, doubling the students’ efforts.
