Esko didn’t have a player recognized in the Minnesota Girls Basketball Coaches Association All-State teams, though the eskomos likely don’t mind. After all, they’re back in the State Tournament for the second straight year.
The Eskomos face Section 8AA Champion Roseau Wednesday at Mariucci Arena in the State quarterfinals.
Last year, the unseeded Eskomos upset 3–seed New London-Spicer in the quarters.
This time, Esko is the 3 seed and now the eskomos are the ones looking to avoid an upset.
“Roseau is good,” said Eskomos’ coach Scott Antonutti. “I had a chance to look at their section final game and they have some pretty high scorers so we’re going to have our hands full. The girls are confident but at the same time leery of having too much confidence.”
“We’re just trying to stay on top, don’t let it get to our heads at all that we’re the 3 seed,” said Eskomos senior Ashley Bergerson. “We have to play like they’re equal competition, they’re real good.”
