Wednesday, The Carlton County Drug Court celebrated its grand opening at the county courthouse.

County officials hope it can serve as a tool to break the cycle of drug and alcohol addiction.

Agents will work with offenders, teaching them how to find jobs, be happy, and start a new, sober, life.

“They’re forced to be sober and then, I think, as soon as they start changing their life, they realize how important it is to be sober, and how important their lives really are, and what they have to lose as they gain more and more,” said Joe Bergerson, who is currently going through the rehabilitation program.

The Drug Court started helping people in September, and since then has had 18 drug offenders enter the program.
